Dorje, often translated as thunderbolt, is the Tibetan term for a principle symbol of Buddhism representing the moment of awakening. Also used along with a bell as ritual objects in the Vajrayana school of Buddhism, it represents the scepter that controls our lower nature, giving us the skillful means we need to become enlightened.
